Today I am reminiscing back to Carmen and Kevin's beautiful October wedding day. When I first arrived, I was greeted by a blushing, bubbly groom. That's right, I said blushing groom! Kevin was beaming from ear to ear. Carmen was still getting her hair done so I started off with the groom and groomsmen photos.
These guys were a hoot! We had a little extra time to kill so they really made the best of it with photo time! Idea after idea with each fun shot. I think they broke my record for amount of photos taken of the groom! Once Carmen and her bridesmaids arrived, Kevin pulled me aside and handed me a letter for Carmen to read. He asked that I photograph her reaction to it. How sweet!
There was so much buzz and excitement in the moments leading up to the ceremony. I could tell the weather forecast had been worrying both Carmen and Kevin. There wasn't going to be a reveal before the ceremony, but I thought who better than Kevin to give Carmen the very calming touch she needed at this moment.
I hid Carmen and told her exactly what I had planned to do. Her eyes sparkled at the thought of him. I went outside and grabbed Kevin and told him of my plan and he readily agreed. I had Carmen tucked around a door way, and placed Kevin around the side of it. (They couldn't see each other don't worry!)
I grabbed their hands and placed them together. In this quiet moment the only thing you could hear was the shutter of my camera and the distant hum of the quests getting ready for the ceremony. The perfect calming touch for my perfect bride and groom.
After a few moments and shots I whisked Kevin away from Carmen, I am so glad I did that for both of them. The look and the relaxation I saw in them were worth it. Also the thanks I received from Kevin let me know I made the right choice!
Kevin is also a photographer when he's not out rescuing the injured (EMT) It is so humbling to learn when my clients are also photographers. To know that someone else with the eye I have believes in me to hire me for my work, just lights my soul and confirms why I do what I do.
The ceremony ended in the nick of time! Just as the last of the wedding party exited the ceremony God released the rains! After spending some one on one time with the newlyweds and their party for photos, we were carted down to the (outdoor) reception.
By this time the rain had been coming down for at least 30 minutes, the reception area may have retained a little water on the dance floor! This turned out absolutely stunning! As the Newlyweds entered they went right in for their first dance. I clicked away and watched in awe (and teary eyes!) While they spun and splashed around! It was (to this date) the most touching first dance I've had the honor of witnessing. Watching the love of two people beam and flourish out like that touches the heart in many ways.
I hope I get to be around more love like Kevin and Carmen Stipp's.
