For a lot of us, by the time we reach our senior year in high school we've stopped taking photos with our parents for some reason. The only photo I have with both my parents from my time in high school is my Junior prom and my senior year pictures. I've had some parents request the shot, and some denied it.
I am going to tell you how incredibly important it is you take one.
After your senior year, life starts flying past your face. One day your a freshman in college trying to figure how things work, the the next your a junior college student wrapping things up to graduate early. Working two side jobs while studying five hours a day. Then it goes even faster from there! Two years ago I was that freshman and now Ive graduated, gotten married, and living in my own house!
As quickly as life flows, just as quickly loved ones start to change.
From that freshman year, my Dad helped me move into two apartments. Now into what would have been my senior year he can barley walk two feet anymore. He's lost half his weight and greyed over 90% of his hair. He's caught up with all my grandparents quickly due to his health. I am very blessed to still spend time with my Dad and appreciate him being here. But I know how fragile life is and how quickly God could call him. I have those memories with him and tons of photos from when I was little. But I only have those two recent photos with him now. That senior photo means a lot to me, because of that significant time in my life with my parents. Its a millstone for them too, when a child graduates high-school or gets married.
Your parents have been your biggest fans, and watched you grow into the shining light you are today. They are going to be the first people you call when you think about making any decision from here on out. You used to shoo away their advice, but soon enough you'll be calling at 3am for it. Trust me I've been there. Parents are a huge part of who you are, whether you like it or not. I am so much like my Dad that my husband, Arie calls me Frank at times. That's okay cause my Father is a great man.
This is why I include photo's with parents in senior collections, AND wedding collections free. Our time here on earth is limited, so it's never a silly thing to stop and appreciate those we love and cherish.
