The holidaze came, and you conquerd (sorta)
Now it's time to wipe the cookie crumbs from your face and get back into the buzz of school, life, and strugglez.
Although, Do we really have to struggle? You have your entire life ahead of you to do that, right?
Wrong. You don't really know how much time your blessed with. So it makes it even more bazaar we spend so much of it, on the struggle bus. I get struggling happens. But how much of it is really unnecessary? I can admit, I spend time I shouldn't stressing over things I shouldn't be stressing over. I spend time doing nothing to help myself avoid struggles. We all get lazy.
When I learned how to take care of myself (Because there will be times no one else will do it for you) I felt the entire world shift and lift off of me. New things appeared in front of me, that had always been there, but I was to lazy and comfortable in what I knew to look up and see it.
One thing that has made my life a million times easier, is organizing.
From simple things like making my bed each day, to big things like paying that bill the moment I open it. Just staying on top of your life, and not under its immense pressure can help make important things like passing that huge exam 99% more stress free.
In life you will have stress and struggles. I'm not saying there is a sure way of never being stressed in your life. Things pop up. Staying organized has defiantly helped me be more prepared thus saving me some anxiety when things do happen.
Knowing were you put that paper that you need for study group, or which folder you saved that very important word doc paper due today, can relieve you of so much unnecessary drama. We are all still kids at heart, kinda bumping around in the dark here looking for a more 'Adultier' adult to tell us what to do.
So don't be so hard on yourself if you are kinda a hot mess. That's why your in school to begin with, to learn. But i'm telling you now, staying organized is a sure way to help you focus more on moving up, then staying put.
Wanna get organized, but don't have the time? I do very small things daily that cost no more time then 5 minutes when I walk through the door. If you had time to read all of this, you have time to help yourself out each day.
-make your bed each day
Small tasks like this will help you feel more achieved. Its been said that people who make their beds each day are more likely to succeed at other tasks in life that come with rewards. Personally I just feel cleaner and more put together when my room is clean. (Fake it till you make it kinda thing!)
-clean your computer or flash drives out!
Theres a lot of stuff we hoard on our desktops. Organize it! A folder for school, a folder for work, and folder for things you saved off the internet. Then little sub folders inside those folders like "first semester" inside your school folder. Then inside your first semester make a folder for each class so you know exactly where to look for that paper. (Save things twice and back things up because technology can fail)
-Do your laundry weekly
Okay I get it your tiered. You may have to walk or drive to do your laundry.
Unfortunately you are going to have to do it for the rest of your life. Unless you want to look like a slob and smell kinda funky. Keeping your clothes and your body clean is so healthy for you. Not the slim fast tea your drinking, the basic life necessity of being 'clean'. You feel better, mentally and physically.
Treat yo' self
- Keep things Separated
I know my socks are in the third basket and then so on. I know my water bills or anything to do with my water are under the 'water bill' tab in the filing cabinet. I know that any photos I've taken are under my 'Session' folder on my desktop. I know everything to do with the Slaughters wedding is under "Weddings 2017" under their named folder. I know when my husband is getting fussy asking where that paper he sat on the counter from work went is in his work folder.
This is why moms always know where things are. She has a system, and she knows habits.
A few fun (for some) extra organizing tips
- Color coordinate all things (Binders, closet, outfits)
- Weekly Chore charts for yourself (On Wednesday you wash pinks- mean girls ref)
- Calendar in your kitchen and utilize the one on your phone (its always with you)
- keep things simple in your purse (necessities)
- Pick up trash and items off the floor everyday (Keep your spaces neat, cars, kitchens ect)
- Be prepared (umbrella in car always, tampons always, hair tie always, tylenol always, extra pencils)
- set aside time for whatever needs attention, make yourself do it
- Get enough sleep, say no sometimes to social life because there can't be one if your strung out
- Be smart, don't overload yourself. Take control of your schedule.
- Utilize Utilize Utilize (Pinterest, Parents, Professors, Discounts)
You can go as severe, or minimal as you want. It's your life. You have to want to get organized and help yourself. I, nor anyone else can make you do it. The benefits are still there when your ready to start making moves.
Life is far to short to stay still. Enjoy it! Get out there! Start conquering it.
