I just want to start off my Radical Self Love story by saying that It didn’t just happen for me over night. It happened when all the work I put into manifesting, letting go, and practicing gratitude clicked in my brain and I started living.
When I was in my seventh year of school I came across a site littered with pink pastels and glitter. It caught my eyes and drew me in. I visited this site so often because it pulled so fiercely at my heart during this time in my life. This period in my life, as it is for others, is a period of becoming self aware, growth, and unfortunately tough times.
I am personally sharing this part of my life because it is still the very experience that drives me so hard to spread love. I know, I most certainly am not the last to experience anything hurtful or dish out anything hurtful.
What I went through is a very important part of who I am today and why Radical Self Love is so important to me to share with the world.
The bright and happy world I knew was suddenly turned black and cruel. I learned that life and the people in it are not all like what I knew. This is why radical self love is so important to me. It helped me save myself and that bright bubbly personality. Because of Radical Self Love I knew that inside I WAS awesome. I WAS kind, I AM not just okay I am the greatest Katie Bottorff ever.
I was to not let self loathing, self sabotaging turn me dark. I was being told of all the things I “wasn’t” by people who were just as lost and confused as myself.
Radical Self Love is that little voice in the background telling you not to let the negative vibes stop you, Because they are just that. Radical Self Love taught me to remember who I am, and how to love others, even if it was hard. It took me a few years to finally let radical self love in and take over, but when I did I cannot express the weight and cloudiness it pushed off of me. It was like wiping off a splattered lens (photography reference lol) I could see so much clearer now, looking at the world in a whole new light.
Let’s be honest the entire world seems a bit doom and gloomy now, but only to those who allow it.
The life you have always dreamed of living is right in your reach. It always has been. The moment you say it’s yours is when the magic happens. For me it was when I put my weapons down, stopped feeling sorry for myself, and allowed myself move on. My Radical Self Love Journey finally took flight when I decided my comfort zone was getting to crowded.
Taking that first step, whatever it may be, Is the most important. Whatever lights a fire in your soul, makes your nervous, or gives you goose bumps, is calling you to give it a try.
For me it was a plane ticket out west. I have been an northern girl all my life and I’ve only seen the ocean a handful of times. I haven’t explored a ton but spent a lot of time on the back of my horses riding around places I probably shouldn’t have. I wanted so much to experience something more. Taking that first step all on my own aloud me to stretch my wings, and open myself up to all the universe has to offer me.
For you it may be kicking a habit, closing some doors, or forgiving yourself. Do not let fear stop you. The life you want only feels so out of reach because you don’t love yourself enough to live it. I promise you it is so much “easier” to live a life of fear, negative outlook on others, and yourself. Living a life full of gratitude, love, kindness and happiness sets you up for more then just an “easy” life. It’s an extraordinary life. Living in every day gratitude, walking the talk, and doing your very best in every moment helps you achieve goals. This gives you a better sense of self worth, a higher probability of success, mentally and physically improves you. Radical Self Love helps you LIVE LONGER. Radical Self Love Humbles you and helps you forgive yourself when you make mistakes, because we all make them. You are instantly even more fun to be around, AND you just being you lights up OTHER people. Its as contagious as smiling at a stranger on the street completely turning around their day.
There is nothing wrong with you. Don’t take this as me saying to change WHO YOU ARE. Who you are, is an awesome HUMAN BEING who DESERVES to live their life to the fullest and happiest potential.
YOU DESERVE HAPPINESS YOU DESERVE KINDNESS YOU DESERVE LOVE
AS DOES EVERYONE ELSE.
