First thing to do after you say Yes!

First off, congratulations on your big engagement! It's so exciting and wonderful to be engaged. Live it up, every chance you get! Over use the word Fiance, fit it in any chance you get! Things are going to take off, through all the hustle and bustle of planning you'll blink and your wedding day will be here!

So where do you start?

You've probably got a ton of things running through your mind, like your dress, the place, the colors! You may be having little rushes of excitement just barreling over you at any given moment!

Speaking with experience, by the time my brides come to me (3. The photographer) they normally have

1. Venue

2. Wedding Coordinators

In my experience there is no wedding without out the location set! So my suggestion to you is to find your spot, and lock in your date. Once you've got that done, you can calmly check off the rest of your vendor list, with an exact date and location to give them.

Picking your vendors is a crucial part of your wedding. I am going to get deep into that next week. So make sure you stay tuned for that. Now you may have noticed that the first suggestion after you say yes wasn't the date. Everyone has a different situation. Some clients know exactly when right away, and others have a rough idea on the date. Picking out a venue has a huge play in your date.

Your venue might have lower pricing during off seasons, so if your budgeting for your day this might be a key player on when your date is set. There are venues that are set in locations that are impossible to host a wedding due to extreme weather in the summers or winters. Here in Indiana though, you probably won't run into much of that. But, you might come across a venue that you MUST have. There are a lot of beautiful places to host your wedding here in Indiana, some of them are pretty popular. Keep in mind if you want a venue bad enough, you might let them pick the date! Whatever their next available date is, may be yours!

So get out there fast and get the ball rolling! Booking the big ticket items ahead of time will bring you a lot of security and peace of mind. The plus side is you'll have more time to focus on details of your day, and enjoying the process of it all!
